How does it work?

In the classical document management model the bank’s or the enterprise’s processing center:

  • Receives the paper documents by courier.
  • Digitizes them using Atril® or a similar solution.
  • Once the documents are converted into images and data, the processing center returns them to the branch office for electronic retrieval.

The electronic image is transmitted to the bank’s or enterprise’s data processing center over IP networks (Internet or intranet). All required processes are performed on the image of the document using the Atril® solution and are stored online.

Thus the central services and the branch offices of the enterprise of bank can retrieve the image of the document, the information contained in, or related to, that image, and the status of the process.

Now, thanks to developments in telecommunications it is possible to perform this entire process without the paper document ever leaving the place it was first received, i.e. the local branch office.

With the PoIP® platform, the check is digitized at the branch office using a multi-purpose device. From then on the whole process uses the image of the document rather than the physical document.
